Principal Message

Hello Lakewood Elementary Families,

Whether you are a returning or a new to Lakewood family, we are so glad you are a part of our school community, YOU BELONG HERE at LES. Our staff is excited to serve you.

Our work at Lakewood is guided by the following commitment: “As a learning community, we ensure high levels of learning for all by meeting students where they are at and guiding them step by step to academic, social and emotional success.” The staff at LES accomplish this through living out the Lakewood School District’s Strategic Priorities of providing:

  • Service, Leadership and a Community of Caring
  • Equitable Access to Powerful Learning
  • Collaborative Community and Programmatic Partnerships

If you spend any time on our campus, you will learn that Lakewood Elementary Cougars always “Show Their P.A.W.S.” This schoolwide language guides the way we interact and participate as learners. P.A.W.S. stands for Practice kindess, Always be safe, We are engaged and Show respect. As a community we have learned how to “Show our P.A.W.S” in everything we do.

Attendance is a very important aspect of being a successful learner; you cannot learn when you miss key instruction. Please help your LES Cougar prepare for success by having them to school and in their classroom by 8:35 at the latest. Campus opens at 8:20 for breakfast and morning activities. We hope you will make on-time attendance a priority for your family.

We feel extremely fortunate to serve your family. If you ever have any questions or needs, please reach out to our amazing office staff and they will work to get you the support you need.

In partnership,

Kristin Cortés
Principal
